After cutting Derrius Guce, the Washington Football Team will be rolling with 35-year-old Adrian Peterson. It seems almost certain they will likely look to add a free agent running back that can come in and play immediately. Next offseason, they must address this area.

James Conner is another Pittsburgh Steelers player who Washington should take a look at next offseason. Much like JuJu Smith-Schuster, Conner is a high character player with an incredible work ethic, beyond just being a great fit for the offensive scheme.

It’s clear Conner has fantastic size and strength and that’s important when playing under a coach who prefers the power-run scheme. While he may not have the speed of most star backs, Conner makes up for that by leaving opposing linebackers very sore. He will be able to tire defenses out, force them to play the run, and with that set up the play-action pass.

While he did struggle a bit last season, Conner can still play at a very high level. It’s still clear how well he can play with not so terrible quarterback play. It will be interesting to see how the Steelers approach his upcoming free agency. If Conner does hit the free-agent market next offseason, Washington should look to bring him in.
