4 backup options for the Seahawks if Jadeveon Clowney leaves

Matthew Judon

The speculation surrounding a possible Matthew Judon trade has become very quiet. After the Baltimore Ravens placing the franchise-tag on him, there was a lot of talk them possibly looking to make a trade. That could still happen, but it may take the Seahawks missing out on Clowney to gain more traction.

The Ravens are looking to win now and they’d need to have some strong options to replace Judon if they were to trade him. With their tight salary cap situation and the options on the open market being underwhelming, it appears unlikely they’d be able to sign a suitable replacement.

There is a possibility the Ravens may have changed their mind about being open to a potential trade involving Judon. If they don’t absolutely need to create additional salary cap space for this offseason, there isn’t necessarily anything making them to do a deal.

Considering the circumstances the Ravens are facing, the Seahawks would surely need to come with an attractive trade package to get something done. Regardless, the required compensation to land Judon would surely be less than what it would take to get Yannick Ngakoue.
