The Cincinnati Bengals travel into the Lion’s Den this week as they face the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Coming off an ugly 16-10 loss to the New England Patriots, Joe Burrow has his work cut out for him to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start to the season. However, he didn’t win the schedule sweepstakes as he faces his biggest foe in Patrick Mahomes.
The showdown will be a big one in the AFC picture, but who will walk away as the winner?
Here are three predictions for the Bengals in the game.
Joe Burrow throws for three touchdowns
After hearing more noise about his wrist than his outfits, Burrow turns it up a notch. After failing to score a touchdown in his season debut, he racks up three against the Chiefs’ secondary. This quiets all talk claiming that Burrow is on his way down the quarterback rankings.
Of course, it will be up to him who the three, two, or one receiver(s) will be to nab the boost to their stat lines. However, either way, he will be responsible for at least 18 points for the Bengals in the contest.
Ja’Marr Chase emerges from holdout hangover
Ja’Marr Chase caught some flak for how he behaved in the lead up to the team’s Week 1 appearance against the Patriots. Multiple times in August and even in September, Chase skipped practice, showing up in street clothes. It is clear he is frustrated with his contract situation, but many analysts refused to give him a pass.
Then, against the Patriots, Chase earned just roughly 60 yards and failed to get in the end zone. This isn’t a prediction of just how dominant Chase will be in the contest, but the receiver will bounce back in a big way.
Zack Moss outrushes Joe Mixon
Joe Mixon won the early comparison between Moss and himself in Week 1. Mixon, who left the team this offseason, earned roughly 160 yards and a touchdown on the ground in his Houston Texans debut. Meanwhile, Moss earned just roughly 45 yards and a touchdown.
This week, Mixon will take a backseat to the other weapons on the Texans. Meanwhile, Moss will rush for a score and cross the 100-yard mark with the Cincinnati Bengals. This will allow Moss to win the Week 2 comparison, although he will still have some distance to make up in the race to 1000 yards.
