CeeDee Lamb is up to $136 million richer this week than he was last week. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver finally received the extension he had been angling for essentially since 2024 began.
With the biggest question settled for Lamb, his attention turns to the 2024 regular season. He’ll aim to deliver for Jerry Jones this year, but how well?
Here’s a look at three bold predictions for Lamb this season.
CeeDee Lamb will have a rusty start
Lamb has essentially missed the preseason thanks to his negotiation with Jones. Instead of working out with the team and practicing, the star receiver has been out of sight. While he now has roughly two weeks to work through his rust, he has had zero games of practice. As such, he will start the season at a slower production clip than last year, frustrating fantasy football managers.
First decline in production of career
The rusty start combined with his new long leash allows Lamb every reason to get comfortable and kick back somewhat. The result will be his first decline in production since he joined the team in 2020.
Lamb has improved year over year in his production, jumping from 935 yards in 2020 to 1102 yards in 2021, 1359 yards in 2022, and 1749 yards in 2023.
He also has only seen his touchdowns climb every season, climbing from five touchdowns in 2020 up to 12 touchdowns in 2023. He will see a slight step back this season.
Sports talk shows will point this out at some point in their coverage of Jones as the Cowboys general manager continues to hold off on extending Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy.
CeeDee Lamb delivers in the clutch late in December
While Lamb won’t have the same career-record production this season, he will still be every bit as good on the field on Sundays. This will be apparent late in the season when he delivers in the clutch for Prescott in a titanic season-altering grab.
CeeDee Lamb will get a touchdown at some point late in the season that will either catapult the Cowboys into the playoffs or into the lead in the NFC East.
