3 Bold Predictions For The Green Bay Packers In Week 9 vs. Lions

With Week 9 action right around the corner for the Green Bay Packers, a win is needed in a big way. At this point in the year, many would go as far as to say that this is a must-win game for the Packers against the Detroit Lions.

Aaron Rodgers and company have struggled over the last four weeks. They have lost all four games and haven’t looked good doing it. Despite the struggles, general manager Brian Gutekunst opted not to make a move at the NFL trade deadline to improve the roster.

Now, all the pressure is on Rodgers and company to pick up a win on the road in Detroit. Thankfully, the Lions are going to be a much less dangerous offense with star tight end TJ Hockenson no longer in town. The Lions opted to trade Hockenson to the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the deadline.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at three bold predictions for the Packers this week as they take on the Lions.

3. Aaron Rodgers Puts The Team On His Back

Last week against the Buffalo Bills, the Packers decided to pound the football on the ground. Rodgers did not get a chance to throw the ball much until late in the game, when he found some success with his young wide receivers. This week, against a very porous Lions’ secondary, Rodgers will put up his biggest game of the season.

Despite all of the question marks at the wide receiver position, Rodgers will end up throwing for 300 or more yards to go along with four touchdowns and no interceptions. That is the kind of bounce-back performance that Green Bay will need from Rodgers to begin turning their season around.

2. Rashan Gary Will Sack Jared Goff Three Times

Speaking of stars that the Packers need to see step up this week, Rashan Gary has been one of the NFL’s elite pass-rushers all season long. Since last year, Gary has proven himself to be a major force to be reckoned with on the edge.

Jared Goff and the Lions’ offense have shown signs of being able to put up points in bunches. Where they struggle is when Goff is under pressure. Joe Barry is facing major criticism as the defensive coordinator for the Packers, but will get his defense back on track by applying a ton of pressure on Goff.

Gary will come away from this Week 9 matchup with three sacks. He’s an elite edge rusher and he will show that this week.

1. The Packers Will Pick Up A Much-Needed Dominant Win

Finally, and most importantly, the Packers will end up winning this game in blowout fashion. While the Lions are not a good football team, Green Bay has to pick up a win to get their season back on track.

Not long ago, the Packers rebounded from a brutal start of the year to run the table and make it all the way to the NFC Championship Game. We certainly aren’t predicting that kind of run for Green Bay, but a big win this week will give them a chance to right the ship.

Our final score prediction for this game is that the Packers will end up winning 34-14.
