3 defensive free agents the Colts should target

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Jones, Defensive Tackle, Kansas City Chiefs

Imagine pairing Justin Houston and his 11 sacks with an absolute animal like Chris Jones. Jones had nine sacks this past season and was a constant force along the line of scrimmage.

Today’s NFL is all about generating interior pressure and outside of Aaron Donald, Chris Jones is one of the best in the business at getting to the quarterback. Jones won’t come cheap, in fact he may command close to collecting as much as Donald’s $17 million a year salary. The Chiefs also have given no indication that they are prepared to lose the former Mississippi State star, but with Patrick Mahomes’ contract extension
looming, they may have to let the defensive tackle walk.

That is where the Colts and their surplus of cash come in and offer the farm to Jones.
