Helps Josh Allen Take the Next Step
Having a high-level quarterback plays a key role in a team achieving success in today’s NFL. Especially when considering teams in the AFC have to compete with the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson paired up with dangerous supporting casts for years to come.
As things currently stand, the Bills are still waiting on Josh Allen to take a leap forward in his development. During his 2019 campaign, he completed 271 of his 461 pass attempts (58.8% completion rate) for 3,089 yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
The Bills need more from Allen across the board but they didn’t have the necessary weapons around him to get that done last season. There was a clear need for them to make a splash, especially with a strong chance to win a division title in 2020.
Having a dynamic receiver like Stefon Diggs will help set the tone for the rest of the receiving core, in effect, helping Allen’s development as a quarterback. Each receiver such as John Brown and Cole Beasley will now play better suited roles within the offense.
