3 early predictions for Justin Fields in rookie season with the Bears

Justin Fields, Bears
NFL Analysis Network

The Chicago Bears made a major splash when they traded up nine picks to select Ohio State star quarterback Justin Fields with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Fields has always played with a chip on his shoulder and the Bears would greatly appreciate a guy under center who’s only focus is to win football games.

Fields brings a unique skill set to Chicago, and could be the most successful quarterback the team has ever had if all works out. The Mitchell Trubisky experiment did not work out at all and the Bears can only hope that moving up for Fields yields better results. They really are just a quarterback away from being contenders.

Let’s dive into three early predictions for Justin Fields in his rookie season with the Bears.

3. He Will Beat Out Andy Dalton For The Starting Job

My first prediction for Fields is that he will beat out Andy Dalton for the starting quarterback position. The Bears brought in Dalton to be the team’s starting quarterback in free agency, but you don’t trade up to draft a guy 11th overall to sit on the bench.

The offseason battle between Justin Fields and Andy Dalton will certainly be worth watching, but I’d put my money on Fields beating out Dalton for the starting job. Fields has a play style that will translate nicely to the NFL and his overall work ethic is admirable. Chicago could see some great success by starting Fields at quarterback right off the bat.

2. Fields Will Win The Offensive Rookie of the Year Award

My second prediction for Fields is that he will win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Fields is a very good quarterback who has elite polish on deep downfield throws, and that could tremendously help him make a case for the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Fields will have more opportunities to make plays due to his ability to tuck the ball and take off down the field, which is valuable in regards to award recognition. There will be a lot of intriguing options for the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award this season, but Justin Fields should be listed amongst the cream of the crop.

1. The Bears Will Make The Playoffs Under Fields’ Leadership

My final prediction for Fields is that he will help guide the Bears to the playoffs. The Bears have ridden the coattails of their defense for quite some time with Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback, but now that he’s gone they have a legitimate playmaker to help carry the offense.

Justin Fields will keep the Bears in great position to win some football games, and considering their drastic improvements this offseason, they could surely make the playoffs. Fields is no stranger to success and I think that will be the case in his NFL career as well.
