3 edge rushers the Cowboys should still target in free agency

Cameron Wake

Again, the Cowboys would likely add an edge rusher that is experienced and is content with signing a short-term deal. Of the available players, there might not be a more experienced edge defender than Cameron Wake.

Wake, who was a standout player in the CFL before getting a legitimate chance in the NFL, didn’t officially begin his career until he was 27 years old. Nevertheless, in his 11 seasons, Wake has combined for 100.5 sacks.

Following an impressive 10-year tenure with the Miami Dolphins, Wake chose to sign with the Tennessee Titans last offseason. It’s safe to say that he didn’t fit Tennessee’s defense, notching a career-low 2.5 sacks.

Despite Wake turning 38 years old earlier this year, he still has something left in the tank and can give the Cowboys a boost off of the edge. Also, if the Cowboys are interested in adding compensatory picks next offseason, Wake wouldn’t affect the formula since he was released by the Titans.
