3 edge rushers the Jets should still target in free agency

Benson Mayowa

Even with an ample amount of cap space remaining, the Jets could choose to target an edge rusher in the 2020 NFL Draft. Or they could decide to set their sights on one of the bargain free agents that are still remaining.

If New York decides to go the cost-effective route, Benson Mayowa is an intriguing player for the Jets. Mayowa spent the 2019 season with the Las Vegas Raiders after spending time with the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals.

In his lone season with the Raiders, the Idaho product compiled a career-high seven sacks and three forced fumbles. While Mayowa may be viewed as a rotational pass rusher for some teams, he’d likely start for the Jets.

At the least, Mayowa could sign a one-year, prove-it deal with New York in hopes he can provide a spark on defense. It’s hard to imagine Mayowa would be worse than what the Jets currently have on the roster.
