Yetur Gross-Matos
The Seahawks could use a pure pass rusher in this year’s draft that can be a difference-maker once he steps on the field. Luckily for Seattle, they’ll have a few options at their disposal in the first round.
The one edge defender that makes the most sense for Seattle is Yetur Gross-Matos out of Penn State. Standing at 6-foot-5, nearly 265 pounds, Gross-Matos definitely uses his size and length to his advantage.
In his final two seasons at Penn State, Gross-Matos practically lived in opposing backfields, accumulating 17 sacks, 34.5 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. Gross-Matos is a plug-and-play starter at the next level and has the tools to become a premier edge rusher if he gets taken by the right team.
Of course, the look of Seattle’s defense next season is dependent on what happens with Clowney. Regardless of whether or not Clowney is back in 2020, Gross-Matos should be the No. 1 option for the Seahawks with the 27th overall pick.
