3 edge rushers the Texans should still target in free agency

Pernell McPhee

There may be some fans in Houston that believe Clowney could make his way back to the team this offseason. If the Texans weren’t willing to pay him last offseason, why would they choose to do so now, with him coming off of an injury?

As previously mentioned, the Texans have an ample amount of cap space remaining to add a pass rusher in free agency. But on the other hand, Houston could choose to look for a cost-effective edge rusher on the open market.

If the Texans are looking to add an experienced, cheap option, Pernell McPhee would be a decent addition. McPhee spent the 2019 season with the Baltimore Ravens, starting in seven games before suffering a season-ending triceps injury.

Prior to the injury, McPhee had tallied three sacks, seven tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits. Despite him coming off of a season-ending injury, McPhee would give Houston a much-needed boost off of the edge.
