The NFL season is mere months away from regaining its fast paced action, and there are still several moves that could be made in the mean time. The Philadelphia Eagles have undergone quite a bit of reconstruction this offseason and there could be more to come regarding their tight end Zach Ertz.
Ertz and the Eagles both want to move on from one another, and they are currently looking into some trade options for their tight end. A deal was expected before or during the 2021 NFL Draft, but that did not end up happening.
Let’s take a look at three teams who could be interested in trading for Zach Ertz prior to the start of the 2021 season.
The Colts could be a team in the mix for Ertz because they have a need at the tight end position and he could be a great fit. Ertz also has chemistry with new Colts quarterback Carson Wentz from is time in Philadelphia, and Ertz has played under Frank Reich as well from when he coached there.
The year when Wentz and Ertz both thrived under Reich’s leadership, they both saw career seasons that propelled them to get major raises. The Colts have a need at tight end and it wouldn’t surprise me if they made a move to go get one of Wentz’s favorite teammates in Zach Ertz.
The Seahawks are a team that could be in the mix to land some new weapons for Russell Wilson, and they do have a major hole at the tight end position that needs to be filled. The addition of Ertz on the Seahawks could give the team the best tight end weapon they’ve had in years, as Ertz has excellent hands, is a great blocker, and has a knack for finding the end zone.
Seattle needs to prove to Russell Wilson that they value him in Seattle, and landing Zach Ertz could be a great way to prove that.
The Panthers have a need at the tight end position, and it could be filled by the very talented Zach Ertz. The Panthers haven’t been shy when it comes to making moves this offseason, and adding a new tight end to their squad could continue that trend.
Carolina made a splash and traded for former New York Jets’ quarterback Sam Darnold this offseason, and they could look to protect their investment in him by adding a nice big tight end for him to target. The Panthers are a team that actually values the tight end position, and adding Ertz could give them a major upgrade in that area.
