3 logical late free agency fits for free agent QB Cam Newton

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks

Another team that could offer Newton a valuable backup job is the Seattle Seahawks. However, unlike Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson has started in every single game since he was drafted in the 2012 NFL Draft.

As of this moment, the Seahawks currently have undrafted rookie Anthony Gordon as their No. 2 option behind Wilson. But besides Gordon and Wilson, Seattle seems to be content with bringing back Geno Smith. There’s no doubt that Newton would be a massive upgrade over both of those guys.

It goes without saying that the Seahawks don’t give Newton a chance at being a starting quarterback in the NFL again. On the other hand, what Seattle does give him, is a chance to sit behind one of the best quarterbacks and prepare himself for next offseason.
