3 NFL players named as potential breakout candidates in 2020

There are new NFL players that take a leap in their development each season. Whether it’s a rookie primed to make the anticipated second-year jump or a veteran that has it finally click, not all breakout seasons are the same.

The most obvious case of all was Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson making the leap to being the MVP of the league in just his second season. The same occurred for Patrick Mahomes with the Kansas City Chiefs the season before also earning him the league’s highest individual honor.

Whether it’s a more predictable choice like Chris Godwin filling the primary slot role in a pass-heavy offense, or someone like DJ Chark that unexpectedly burst onto the scene and never looked back, there was plenty of great non-quarterback examples from last season.

Given the unique circumstances of this offseason caused by COVID-19, it will be interesting to see if there are many unexpected talents that seize an opportunity afforded to them.

Let’s take a list of three players who were listed by ‘Good Morning Football’ as potential breakout candidates during the upcoming season.
