3 offensive line options for the Rams at No. 52 in the NFL Draft

Matthew Peart (OT, UConn)

Again, the Rams would be wise to do everything they can to retain Whitworth for at least one more season. Along with bringing him back, Los Angeles could choose to draft someone to learn under Whitworth in 2020.

Plus, it remains to be seen what the future of Rob Havenstein looks like after having a major regression in 2019. Given that, drafting an offensive tackle wouldn’t be a terrible idea for the Rams.

With the 52nd overall selection, Los Angeles could have an opportunity to add Matthew Peart to the roster. Over his first three seasons at UConn, Peart started at guard for the Huskies in 36 straight seasons.

Then, in his senior season, Peart made the transition from guard to tackle. The move was likely due to Peart standing at 6-foot-7 and being perfectly built like an offensive tackle.

Nevertheless, Peart performed pretty well in his first season at tackle. Give him a year under Whitworth’s tutelage and he could develop into a longtime starter for the Rams.
