Tristan Wirfs, Iowa
After a stellar combine performance, Tristan Wirfs out of Iowa may very well be the first tackle taken in this year’s draft.
He was projected as either a guard or right tackle heading into the scouting combine, but after posting some really solid numbers across the board, scouts believe he could play any position along the offensive line.
The Jets would use him as a right tackle most likely because of the glaring hole they have there, but most scouts believe he’s best suited to be a guard at the next level, at least for his first season or two. He struggles a bit in pass sets, which can be exposed out at tackle, but it would mostly get masked if he was at guard.
He has all the physical tools to make an instant impact on any NFL offensive line. He’ll surely be on the Jets radar if they decide to trade up.
