3 offensive tackles the Chargers should still target this offseason

Jason Peters

If the Chargers choose to look for a left tackle in free agency, they are going to find out they have an extremely limited amount of options. Andrew Whitworth and Anthony Castonzo have re-signed with their respective teams, leaving a barren wasteland at the left tackle position.

However, with Whitworth and Castonzo never making it to the open market, Jason Peters is a veteran that the Chargers could be interested in. Peters, who is entering his 17th season in 2020, has been with the Philadelphia Eagles since 2009.

Throughout his 11 seasons with the Eagles, Peters made the Pro Bowl seven times and was a first-team All-Pro twice. Unfortunately, injuries have hindered him in recent seasons, missing 12 games in the last three years.

The Chargers could choose to move forward with Tyrod Taylor or sign someone like Cam Newton to replace Rivers at quarterback. Whether they decide to go with Taylor or another route, Peters would give Los Angeles a viable short-term plan at left tackle.
