Jedrick Wills
Another option for the Chargers, rather than sign an aging veteran, is to dip into this year’s talented draft class of offensive tackles. Of course, Los Angeles could make the executive decision to select a quarterback with the No. 6 pick in the first round.
In the event that they shy away from drafting a quarterback with the sixth pick, then selecting an offensive tackle is an ideal move. If that’s the case, then Jedrick Wills out of Alabama would be a nice addition to the Chargers early in the first round.
While at Alabama, Wills developed well at the right tackle position, becoming dominant at the position. Even though he thrived on the right side, there’s no reason to believe he can’t make the transition to left tackle in the NFL.
Wills excels in pass protection and has the potential to become a cornerstone of an NFL offense for years to come. By selecting Wills, the Chargers would be adding a player that figures to be a longtime starter at the next level.
