K.J. Hamler, Wide Receiver, Penn State
Finally, there is a chance that the Cowboys could look to go offense in the second round. Randall Cobb leaving town was a disappointing development. McCarthy was hoping to have a guy with Cobb’s skill-set on the field.
What does Cobb bring to the field that the Cowboys wanted? That would be a simple one word answer, which is speed. If Dallas wants to replace that, K.J. Hamler would be exactly what the doctor ordered.
Hamler is the definition of speed. He didn’t run at the NFL Draft Combine, but he said he ran a 4.27 40-yard dash. That may not end up being accurate, but you get the idea of how fast he is.
Last season with the Nittany Lions, Hamler caught 56 passes for 904 yards and eight touchdowns. He averaged 16.1 yards per reception, which shows of his playmaking ability.
Dallas may not choose to consider offense this early in the draft, but if they do, Hamler would be an intriguing fit.
