Russell Wilson has yet to make his regular season Pittsburgh Steelers debut. However, with Justin Fields rolling on a 3-0 run, Wilson might not ever get the chance. If the Steelers are set on Fields, it is time to consider moving on from their nearly free quarterback.
With Wilson on a one-year deal, the Steelers have had one foot out the door on Wilson from the beginning. As such, a trade shouldn’t be too difficult for the Steelers front office to come to terms with. Here are three ideal destinations for Wilson.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are without Tua Tagovailoa and it is clear that Skylar Thompson isn’t the answer for the franchise. If Tagovailoa misses the rest of the season or at least an extended period of time, adding Wilson to an offense with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and a quality running game could keep the team alive this season.
Chicago Bears
It is clear that Caleb Williams is in line for a typical rookie season fraught with learning pains. As such, he needs a veteran around him to help teach. Adding Wilson would be primarily be used for that purpose. However, if Williams proves to be an issue for the team over the next few months, they could pull the Bryce Young lever and give Wilson a shot. Additionally, he gives an opportunity to utilize the team’s solid defense and weapons to give Bears fans a potential playoff run now should he be needed late in the season.
The formula for Wilson has always been a great defense, steady running attack, and a few weapons on the outside. The Bears have that. If they want to win now, getting Wilson can be their best opportunity to use the core.
Tennessee Titans
At the time of writing, the Titans are the only 0-3 team in the NFL. Will Levis has thrown for more interceptions than touchdowns. He also has been under a lot of pressure from fans and the coaching staff, taking the blame for much of the team’s struggles this season. As such, the Titans might be ready to test out a new face after watching Andy Dalton light up the Raiders on Sunday. Adding Russell Wilson gives them an option to see what a veteran can do with their skill positions.
