Trevon Diggs
According to Benjamin Allbright, the Falcons are looking to trade up in the first round to select Javon Kinlaw, the coveted interior defender out of South Carolina. In the event that Kinlaw is the guy they want in the first round, then it would make the most sense to target a cornerback in the second round.
Taking that into account, Trevon Diggs would be a viable selection for the Falcons with the No. 47 pick. Diggs, who was originally a wide receiver recruit at Alabama, made the transition to cornerback in his sophomore season.
Over his last two seasons at Alabama, Diggs tallied 57 tackles, four interceptions, and 14 pass breakups. With Desmond Trufant being released this offseason, drafting a cornerback to replace him seems like a reasonable idea. Drafting Diggs in the second round would give Kendall Sheffield a chance to continue developing in the nickel spot — where he began to excel near the end of the 2019 season.
