2. Stefon Diggs
It’s clear that Michael Thomas is a tremendous individual talent but the Saints may rely on him too much. Having a high-level secondary receiving option could help make them a more difficult attack to stop in playoff situations since there would be more to account for as a unit.
The results Diggs has achieved with the Minnesota Vikings alongside a top receiver in Adam Thielen is intriguing. Being able to pair him with another elite target like Thomas would help reinforce the Saints’ offense in ways that would really open up the field for the rest of the unit.
The Vikings are going to be facing a tight salary cap situation this offseason. They already have Adam Thielen as their top receiving option so they can potentially do without an expensive secondary option. However, it’s still unlikely they will look to deal away Diggs.
It’s certainly still worth trying to pry Diggs away from the Vikings even if it appears unlikely. There are only so many times a player can try to appear as if he wants out from his current team before it becomes a genuine problem. Diggs has certainly racked up his fair share of these instances.
