Josh Uche
Prior to free agency, the Steelers decided to place their franchise tag on Bud Dupree, keeping him with the team in 2020. After having mediocre outputs in his first four seasons, Dupree put together the best season of his career in 2019, recording a career-high 11.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.
As good as Dupree played, there’s no doubt that he benefited from having T.J. Watt on the other side of the field. Do the Steelers really want to pay Dupree a decent amount of money to be reliant on Watt?
Regardless of what Pittsburgh wants to do, it would make sense to add another edge rusher in this year’s draft. In the second round, Josh Uche out of Michigan could be an ideal target for the Steelers.
Over his final two seasons at Michigan, Uche compiled 14.5 sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. While Uche needs time to evolve as a pass rusher, it wouldn’t hurt to have him rotate behind Dupree and Watt, possibly being Dupree’s replacement in 2021.
