3 players the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should try to trade for this offseason

2. Patrick Peterson

On the defensive side of the ball, the Buccaneers are desperate for some help in the secondary. Todd Bowles, the defensive coordinator for Tampa Bay, wants to find players that can fit his scheme.

Impressively, in Bowles’ first season as defensive coordinator in 2019, the Buccaneers boasted the No. 1 run defense in the NFL. At the same time, Tampa Bay had the 30th ranked pass defense in the NFL.

One of the reasons why the Buccaneers struggled against the pass was the lack of experience in the secondary. In light of that, Arians could give a call to his former team once again to convince them of parting ways with Patrick Peterson.

Peterson, a three-time All-Pro, is still one of the premier corners in the league despite nearing 30-years-old. Trying to pry Peterson from the Cardinals isn’t going to be an easy task.

According to multiple reports, Peterson and the Cardinals have begun talks about an extension. We’ve seen players traded before or after contract talks are underway so there’s still a chance the Buccaneers can get their foot in the door before it’s too late.
