Curtis Weaver
Prior to free agency, Everson Griffen opted out of the final three years of his contract with the Vikings, making him a free agent. While Griffen hasn’t ruled out a return to Minnesota, the Vikings have an unmistakable void at defensive end.
Of course, Danielle Hunter has evolved into one of the best edge rushers in the NFL. But without Griffen, Minnesota is a bit thin in their pass-rushing unit. Provided that, Curtis Weaver could be a viable option for them in the second round.
Even though he hasn’t received much buzz in the pre-draft process, there aren’t many edge rushers, in this year’s class, that were as productive as Weaver. In his three seasons at Boise State, Weaver compiled a total of 34 sacks, 47.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles.
During his time at Boise State, Weaver proved that he isn’t the most athletic pass rusher available in the draft. Still, Weaver could become a solid contributor for a Vikings team that could very well need to replace Griffen next season.
