3 players who must take the next step for the Denver Broncos this offseason

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Drew Lock, Quarterback

How could we possibly create this list without talking about Drew Lock heading into his first full offseason with the Broncos? Lock performed admirably in his first five career games and did more than enough to show that he is the future under center for the franchise. Denver has been searching for a franchise quarterback since Peyton Manning retired and they now have that.

Lock completed 64.1 percent of his pass attempts for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also picked up 72 yards on the ground, for what it’s worth.

Denver has to feel good about their position with Lock running the show. He has a big arm and great football IQ. If he takes the leap that many are expecting, the Broncos are not going to be an easy team to beat.
