3 potential cornerback options for the 49ers in free agency

Again, the 49ers are going to have to target the cheaper options if they choose to go the route of free agency. Therefore, household names like Byron Jones, Trae Waynes, Chris Harris Jr., and Logan Ryan are likely out of San Francisco’s price range.

However, upon taking a further look at the upcoming free agents at cornerback, there are a few gems available. Among the cost-effective candidates, Ross Cockrell could be a great addition for any team that signs him.

Before the 2019 season, Cockrell signed with the Carolina Panthers. In his lone season with the Panthers, he contributed 62 tackles, eight deflections, and two interceptions.

With James Bradberry also hitting free agency for the Panthers, Cockrell could be on his fourth different team in the last four years. Maybe Cockrell can finally a long-term home with the 49ers.
