3 potential linebacker targets for the Bears this offseason

Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

Malik Harrison

In the event that the Bears want to avoid spending decent money at linebacker, they could choose to find someone in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, the Bears won’t select for the first time until the No. 43 pick in the draft.

Therefore, Chicago likely won’t have an opportunity to select Patrick Queen or Kenneth Murray. At the same time, the Bears could wait until the middle round to select Malik Harrison out of Ohio State.

In the past three seasons, Harrison has been a mainstay in Ohio State’s defense. The senior linebacker had arguably the best year of his collegiate career in 2019 as he tallied 75 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 16.5 tackles for loss.

While he needs to improve in coverage, Harrison is polished as a run defender. Drafting Harrison could give the Bears a formidable linebacker duo for years to come.
