3 potential safety options for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason

1. Xavier McKinney

Again, the Cowboys could decide to use the draft to address the strong safety position as a way to save money. Besides Delpit, Dallas could have a chance at selecting another safety from the SEC West Conference in the first round.

If it isn’t Delpit, most scouts list Xavier McKinney as the top safety in the 2020 NFL Draft. Coming out of Alabama, McKinney is a tough-nosed safety that is formidable in coverage.

In his two seasons as a starter at the collegiate level, McKinney totaled 169 tackles, 15 deflections, six forced fumbles, and five interceptions. There’s no doubt that McKinney is arguably the most polished safety in this year’s draft.

The pairing of McKinney and Xavier Woods would be a nice long-term duo for the Cowboys. It goes without saying that having two Xaviers at both safety spots would be exciting as well.
