1. O.J. Howard (Tight End, Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
Last offseason, Rob Gronkowski decided to hang up his cleats and begin his life after football. The All-Pro tight end was an absolute nightmare for defensive coordinators to gameplan against.
But after he departed, New England immediately lacked a big-play option in the offense. Even a year after his retirement, the Patriots are still trying to convince Gronkowski to return in 2020.
In all likeliness, Gronkowski is going to remain retired and New England will have to look elsewhere to replace him. As a result, O.J. Howard could become a blip on the Patriots’ radar.
With Bruce Arians becoming the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Howard saw a minimal role in 2019. Given that the Buccaneers have Cameron Brate, they could make Howard available to other teams.
Due to the void at tight end, Howard could be a possible candidate to be traded to the Patriots this offseason. The former first-round pick would be a remarkable acquisition for New England.
