3 prospects the Dolphins should target with the No. 5 pick in the NFL Draft

Left Tackle, Andrew Thomas, Georgia

The Miami Dolphins had one of the worst offensive lines in football last season. They were tied for the most sacks allowed in 2019, letting their quarterback hit the turf a total of 58 times.

Although the team signed guard Ereck Flowers to a three-year deal during free agency, they still need someone to come in and help mitigate the loss of left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who they traded right before the start of last season. Andrew Thomas out of Georgia is rated by most scouts as the best left tackle entering this year’s draft, and he figures to be available when the Dolphins are on the clock at No. 5.

As a three-year starter at Georgia, Thomas has a lot of experience blocking in a pro style scheme and he’s faced some of the best competition in the country playing in the SEC. He’s an outstanding run blocker and scouts believe he’ll have an immediate impact in that regard.

Thomas does struggle a bit with his consistency in his passing blocking foot work, but that’s the only real issue he has in his game. He will be a day one starter at the next level, and it could be for the Dolphins in South Beach.
