3 QB Options Raiders Should Consider This Offseason

The Las Vegas Raiders are in a very intriguing and interesting spot this offseason. They recently released Derek Carr and are now in search of the next quarterback that will wear the silver and black.

The interesting part about the Raiders is that they invested in a roster that is ready to win now, so finding somebody through the draft is plausible, but doesn’t seem like the way the Raiders want to go, and I think everyone knows who Davante Adams wants.

With that being said, here are three quarterbacks the Raiders should consider pursuing this offseason.

QB Options Raiders Should Consider

3. Jimmy Garroppolo

This would be more of a last-resort type of player to add. Jimmy Garroppolo is not a bad quarterback, but it would just be a very sideways move compared to what they had in Derek Carr. Would Las Vegas really be getting better or worse at the position?

However, there is still some sense to it because Josh McDaniels is the head coach. Jimmy G and McDaniels were together in New England. So there could be some sort of chemistry there that could make it an easy transition.

Nonetheless, there are still better options if the Raiders are looking to add that superstar talent to the position. If they’re looking to remain competitive, then Garroppolo is capable of getting the job done. However, if Derek Carr couldn’t take last year’s team to the playoffs, it is hard for me to imagine Jimmy Garroppolo would.

2. Lamar Jackson

A long-shot addition? Probably, but the Raiders do have pieces that the Ravens could want in a potential trade that could make this move feasible.

Jackson and the Ravens are not close on a current contract extension. As of right now, there is a possibility that the Ravens decide to franchise tag him. With the expectation that he won’t play on a tag, they then would trade him. If the Raiders are capable of getting into those trade conversations, they shouldn’t hesitate.

Jackson could be the missing piece to a very talented roster. The problem lies if the Raiders are willing to pay Jackson what he wants. The team that makes a move for him will have to want to give him that long-term contract with all of that guaranteed money as well.

  1. Aaron Rodgers

The no-brainer option is Aaron Rodgers. It’s the perfect fit and scenario. Rodgers has continued to remain linked to the Raiders as a possible suitor.

Being in the back half of his career, he would get to go to a warm-weather place and reunite with former teammate Davante Adams. He would have an offensive-minded coach in McDaniels and has other pieces around him that could put him in a great position to succeed.

The only problem is that he would have to not only join the AFC West but the AFC in general. The path to the Super Bowl would be much harder. Playing the Chiefs, Chargers, and Broncos twice a year. Also having to beat out guys like Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Lawerence, and potentially Jackson to get to the Super Bowl.
