3 quarterbacks the Green Bay Packers should consider in the 2020 NFL Draft

2. Jake Fromm, Georgia

Fromm’s smallish hand size (8-7/8″) has drawn some scrutiny this week at the NFL Combine, and he came in on the smaller side at just under 6-foot-2 (6-1 7/8″) and 219 pounds.

Fromm said he would like to pattern his game after another undersized quarterback.

“I would love to try to emulate my game the best way possible after Drew Brees,” Fromm said. “The way he approaches the game. The way he works. The way he throws. Hopefully, I can be as close to him as possible.”

Fromm draws high marks for his football IQ, pocket presence and leadership skills. He was a given the autonomy to audible at the line of scrimmage, which gives him a leg up in the broader scope of quarterback prospects. But since he does not wow with great arm strength and brute physical tools, he’s widely being tabbed as second or third-round pick.

The Packers may be able to just wait and get Fromm when they go on the clock at the end of the second round, or they could make a move up to get him if he’s on the board within 5-10 picks of their turn.

When trying to tab who could be Rodgers’ successor out of this year’s draft class, nabbing Fromm might be the best fit. In a win-now window as long as Rodgers is in place, there are clearer needs to address with their first-round pick.
