Safety Net
If Burrow is indeed the quarterback, then he will slide into a perfect situation. It’s one thing to have Green but to have the opposite side occupied by Cooper and Boyd should ease any concerns Burrow will have entering his rookie year. The best thing for a rookie QB to have are capable pass catchers.
In 2019, the Bengals averaged 228 yards per game through the air. Even with Andy Dalton at the helm, those numbers should have been better. If Green can come back healthy, he can continue to be the all-world receiver who can stretch the field and find a soft spot in any zone. Cooper will provide Burrow the kind of safety net he had in college. As a QB whose not afraid to tuck the ball or escape the pocket to extend a play, having a great blocker and route runner like Cooper will only build Burrow’s confidence.
