Fill the long-term void left behind by Byron Jones
The expectation for the Cowboys heading into the offseason was that Byron Jones would depart in free agency. That’s exactly what ended up happening as he signed a five-year, $82.5M contract with the Miami Dolphins. Now, Dallas needs to find a long-term replacement.
After losing Jones, the Cowboys were rumored to pursue former Denver Broncos corner Chris Harris Jr. in free agency. Despite being one of the finalists, that didn’t end up panning out as Harris decided to sign with the Los Angeles Chargers.
There weren’t much for options in free agency for the Cowboys after missing out on Harris. They will have to either rely on the options they have on their roster or turn to the NFL Draft as a potential option.
The top corner prospect in this year’s class is Ohio State corner Jeff Okudah and will likely be a top three selection. Considering the options, the best realistic option for the Cowboys will likely be Henderson as ESPN’s Todd McShay currently projects as being the case.
