3 reasons Denzel Mims would be a great pick for the Eagles at No. 21

Mims impressed at the Senior Bowl

Between the results Mims displayed at the Senior Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine, his stock has been increasingly rising. In fact, it doesn’t seem like being limited to just FaceTime style communication with teams slowed that momentum down.

There are some weaknesses Mims is considered to have but there is reason to believe he can improve in those areas over time. For starters, the top red flags mentioned about the Baylor product is that he doesn’t get effective separation and he needs to refine his route-running, but he showed growth at the Senior Bowl.

There is a lot to like about Mims’ ceiling in the NFL if he can continue to fine-tune the little things about his route-running tendencies. It’s likely that progress has already been noticed considering how teams have seemingly viewed him in a better light since the end of the 2019 season.

With the criticism of Mims’ route-running, some draft experts consider his floor to be lower than the top receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft. That should present an opportunity for the Eagles to capitalize if they believe their coaching staff can continue to develop him.
