3 reasons drafting Jordan Love actually makes perfect sense for the Packers

1. The Premium On Quarterbacks

No matter how confident you are in your current quarterback, where he is on his career track or how good/great he is, there’s a strong argument for the following draft philosophies-in so many words. Similar phrases can be applied to other avenues of quarterback acquisition.

“If there’s a quarterback you really like, go get him.”

“If there’s a quarterback you like, no matter the round, take him.”

“If there’s a quarterback with elite upside in a draft class, move Heaven and Earth to go get him if you can/have to.” (call this one the Tua Tagovailoa philosophy)

It’s clear the Packers coveted Love, and they backed that up by moving up to assure they got him. Right or wrong (with hindsight as the guide), and even if Love never starts a game for them, there’s something to appreciate in that process. Quarterback is too important a position to leave things to chance, or to settle for someone you’re not in love with.
