3 reasons the Eagles should push for a Yannick Ngakoue trade

The Philadelphia Eagles have been consistently connected to Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue throughout the offseason. Mostly, that has been the result of his occasional cryptic social media posts.

Another mention of the Eagles came from Ngakoue’s official Instagram account on Tuesday. He posted a photo of Brian Dawkins with no caption included on it, which leads to the assumption it’s a reference about wanting to be traded to Philadelphia.

While Ngakoue has continued to remain at least somewhat cryptic (but not really) when it comes to possibly wanting to be traded to the Eagles, he has been very straightforward again about wanting to be traded. He tweeted a response to a rumor stating that Jacksonville ‘won’t give him away for little return‘ reiterating his desire to depart.

It’s clear the situation between the Jaguars and Ngakoue is untenable at this point and a trade will need to be completed eventually. Getting a deal done before the upcoming NFL Draft with another team could at least enable Jacksonville to add more draft capital for immediate use.

It was an impressive 2019 season for Ngakoue. In 15 appearances, he totaled 41 combined tackles (13 for loss), eight sacks, 15 QB hits, four forced fumbles, and six passes defensed. At 25-years-old, there’s a lot to like about his potential going forward, too.

With that being said, there are three reasons the Eagles should make a major push for a Yannick Ngakoue trade.
