Ngakoue would solidify the DE position
The Eagles appear to be high on their current defensive end depth chart as it stands. While that may be the case, they could use a more dynamic option to set the tone for the rest of the defensive line. That’s likely something that makes Philadelphia so appealing to Yannick Ngakoue.
The benefits of having a dynamic pass rusher that opposing teams have to send extra help for the tackle to block helps has a trickle effect. The rest of the pass rushers in the unit are able to look better as their situations become easier. That’s why a player like Ngakoue is important.
Let’s not forget, the current landscape of the Eagles’ defensive end rotation is solid for 2020. However, Brandon Graham (31) and Vinny Curry (32) are getting older. It would be wise to have a younger dynamic option like Ngakoue to eventually manage their older edge rushers’ snaps or move on from them.
Between Derek Barnett (23) and Josh Sweat (22), the Eagles do have some young defensive ends on their roster. However, having just two isn’t enough for a team that likes to rotate their personnel on the defensive line throughout games.
