It’s not easy to land high-level pass rushers
When the opportunity presents itself to land a high-level pass rusher, it’s important for teams to capitalize. These situations often are trade scenarios that require giving up significant compensation.
Being able to land a pass rusher is very difficult and requires giving up a significant amount of compensation to pull off via trade. Just a few weeks ago, the Indianapolis Colts had to give up the No. 13 pick in exchange for DeForest Buckner and gave him a large contract extension, too.
The current trajectory for the Eagles is that they won’t be able to add a player of this caliber this offseason unless if they were to sign Jadeveon Clowney. That appears like an unlikely outcome for Philadelphia at the moment with no alternatives for an immediate dynamic pass rusher.
It appears highly unlikely the Eagles will be in a position to draft an elite edge rusher in the near future. They are simply too talented to ever have that bad of a record. They could wait until other trade options become available in the future, but the overall impact would be comparable at best.
