Eagles are always looking to improve their pass rush
Ever since defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz came to town in 2016, the defense’s primary focus has been building along the defensive line. Philly has perennially had a stout front seven on defense.
Last season, the team banked on the emergence of young pass rushers to help fill thew void left behind by Chris Long and Michael Bennett. Both Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat were forced to play bigger roles in Philly’s pass rushing defense.
The two combined for 10.5 sacks and 32 hits on the quarterback. While those aren’t bad numbers by any means, adding Clowney to this rotation would make for a dominant force up front.
Having a defensive end rotation of Brandon Graham, Clowney, Barnett, Sweat and Vinny Curry would wreak havoc on opposing offensive lines.
