Incredible Memorable Moments

There are too many memorable moments from Jamaal Charles not to be a Hall of Fame player. While Charles‘ NFL career may have been cut short due to an ACL injury that hindered him during his final years, he stood amongst the leagues best when he played with the Chiefs. Without the ACL injury, Charles more than likely would have surpassed the 10,000 NFL career rushing yard mark and then some.

There have been players with shorter careers who have been enshrined such as Gale Sayers. Sayers was limited to 68 games played. While he statistically rushed for less than 5,000 yards, he’s a Hall of Farmer because of his talent and the plays he made. Sayers was fast and his ability to cut was like no other and despite injuries cutting his career short, he’s in the Hall of Fame. The way he played, his respect amongst peers and his NFL highlight reel is why.

Charles, like Sayers, was recognized time and time again for his efforts when he did play. Longevity shouldn’t be a problem when it comes to Charles’ consideration in the NFL Hall of Fame.

He once rushed for 165 yards in one quarter of football in an NFL game. He’s had multiple 200-plus-yard rushing games including one where he rushed for 259 yards in a single game, which is ninth all-time for most yards in a single game. Chiefs fans will remember when he scored 30-points in a single game, which is a franchise record.

Charles was elite. Charles set records. Charles had memorable moments. Charles had the ultimate respect amongst his peers and the league which is why he was selected to multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams. Beyond numbers, Charles was one of the fiercest competitors who lined up in the backfield on Sundays. He’s the Chiefs standard when it comes to rushing and the legend deserves a bust in Canton, Ohio.
