3 reasons Kyler Murray will be better than Jimmy Garoppolo in 2020

Kyler Murray, Jimmy Garoppolo, Cardinals, 49ers

The quarterback position is no stranger to being the center of discussion for player comparisons. With Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray entering his second season, he could surpass other players at his position, including Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers.

The production Murray provided the Cardinals was highly impressive earning him 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year. He completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 3,722 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also added 544 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Entering the situation with the San Francisco 49ers after spending time developing behind Tom Brady with the New England Patriots afforded Jimmy Garoppolo with a different situation than Murray.

Meanwhile, Garoppolo was efficient in his output and had a better season than Murray. For reference, the 49ers quarterback completed 69.1 percent of his throws resulting in 3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions while playing for one of the NFL’s top teams.

The upcoming season could tell a different story when comparing Murray and Garoppolo. While the title of best quarterback in the NFC West will almost certainly remain Russell Wilson’s honor, these two players can certainly compete for the honor of second in those rankings.

With that being said, here are three reasons Kyler Murray will be better than Jimmy Garoppolo in 2020.
