3 reasons the Lions should consider trading down from No. 3

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Lions are fine with Matthew Stafford at QB

The main motivation for teams to trade with the Lions for the No. 3 pick is to be in a prime position to take the best non-Joe Burrow quarterback available. That’s why Detroit should look to trade out of that spot because they’re fine with Matthew Stafford.

Stafford dealt with injuries last season but he’s going to be healthy for the start of the 2020 season. He’s still only 32-years-old and is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the NFL due to the team’s routinely bad supporting casts.

Using draft capital to help Stafford while they still have him is wise as opposed to focusing on trying to replace him. Detroit may surprise themselves in a pleasant way if they actually had talent around their franchise-quarterback.
