3 reasons the Lions should consider trading down from No. 3

Probably could still take Jeffrey Okudah

The most common projection for the Lions is the selection of cornerback Jeffrey Okudah out of Ohio State, and for good reason. He’s a shutdown defensive back that can step in from day one and make a real impact for any NFL team.

The best about trading down for the Lions is that they’d probably still be able to take Okudah. The Giants at No. 4 will probably take either former Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons or an offensive tackle. Meanwhile, the No. 5 pick (if the Dolphins don’t trade up) will almost certainly be on a quarterback.

Basically, if the Dolphins trade down to the No. 5 or 6 spot in the draft order, they’d likely be able to take Okudah. Even if New York were to take him for whatever reason, the Lions would still be able to land a high-level prospect while being compensated for moving down.
