The New England Patriots have quite a few questions to answer entering the NFL offseason. One of those questions comes at the quarterback position with the future of Tom Brady being completely unknown. While Brady may return in free agency, the Patriots have to plan for him possibly leaving and also for the future.
Looking at free agency, the Patriots should have a lot of interest in one option who could play now or be the future at quarterback. That player would be Tennessee Titans impending free agent Marcus Mariota.
That’s right, Mariota could be exactly what the Patriots need long-term. After struggling with the Titans and being labeled a bust as a former No. 2 overall pick, Mariota could find a home with New England.
Mariota played in just seven games for the Titans in 2019. He completed just 59.4 percent of his pass attempts for 1,203 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions. The numbers weren’t terrible, but things have not worked out in Tennessee.
With Ryan Tannehill now the quarterback for the Titans, Mariota could very well walk in free agency. If he does, the Patriots should take a strong look at signing him.
Let’s dive in and take a look at three reasons Mariota would make perfect sense for the Patriots.
