2. Signing Rivers Opens Up The Window To Draft A Young QB
Since Rivers is only looking to play for two more years, the Colts would be able to have a quarterback to help them win now, while also going out and bringing in a young option for the future.
Jordan Love seems like the most likely candidate to drafted by the Colts with the No. 13 overall pick. Ballard and the Colts have been high on him throughout the draft process. Bringing him in and allowing him to sit for a couple of years behind Rivers would be a great start to his career.
Developing quarterbacks can take some time and head coach Frank Reich is a great coach who could rise to that task. Love would learn a lot from watching and working with Rivers. A couple of years down the road, he could step in and be the team’s long-term quarterback.
