Bridgewater isn’t prone to turning the ball over
Throughout the 2019 season, Anthony Lynn made it clear that he wasn’t content with the number of turnovers that Rivers had in the offense. In his 16th and seemingly final season with the Chargers, Rivers threw for 23 touchdowns, 20 interceptions, and fumbled the ball three times.
While the Chargers being their search for Rivers’ replacement, Lynn has highlighted that finding someone that can protect the football is key this offseason. That is why Lynn has even said that Tyrod Taylor could get an opportunity to start in 2020.
On the other hand, Bridgewater is a quarterback that has proven he can take care of the football. Over the course of his five starts in 2019, Bridgewater had just two interceptions and zero fumbles. While he lacks in arm strength, he makes up for it with some of his other intangibles.
Provided the Chargers have an improved defense and a formidable rushing attack, Bridgewater would be the perfect quarterback for Los Angeles. Albeit it was a short sample size, Bridgewater has a skill set that excels at keeping the ball away from the defense.
