Bridgewater can be a long-term or short-term option for the Chargers

Of course, the Chargers would love to be able to add their long-term answer at quarterback this offseason. By signing Bridgewater, Los Angeles could have a “bridge” quarterback or their franchise signal-caller of the future.

Despite coming into the NFL in 2014, Bridgewater is still only 27 years old and he’s been able to preserve his body for the past couple of years, backing up Brees. Given that, the Chargers could have Bridgewater as their starter for the foreseeable future.

An offense featuring Bridgewater, Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, and Mike Williams would be a nice foundation for the ensuing years. None of those guys listed would turn 30 years old until 2023.

At the same time, the Chargers could take a patient approach and sign Bridgewater to a short-term deal while grooming a rookie behind him. Either way, signing Bridgewater would give Los Angeles an opportunity to succeed in the near future and possibly beyond.
